Program Description
Women's Health Services include yearly examinations, Pap smears and breast examinations, and infection identification and treatment.
Women's Health Services also includes Family Planning, which plays a key role in pregnancy planning, contraception, and education. This helps families and individuals plan family size, and has a positive effect on health outcomes.
Our staff offers information on abstinence and natural family planning methods; as well as providing Depo-Provera, birth control pills, contraceptive film, and condoms (both male and female). Staff members explain the benefits of using each method to allow our clients to make the best possible decisions.
Pap smears and breast examinations are done for all women over 40 through the Primary Care Clinic. Women assigned to the Florida Department of Health in Columbia County, or who have chosen the Florida Department of Health for their physician are eligible for these yearly exams. Otherwise, women not eligible for these services will be referred to their private physician. Both Donna Caldwell, APRN and Dr. Diaz, MD provide Family Planning.
